Voluntary AI Safety Standard (VAS)
The Voluntary AI Safety Standard is a 10-guardrail framework published by the Department of Industry, Science and Resources in September 2024, covering accountability, risk management, data governance, testing, human oversight, transparency, and more. It is not legally binding, but has become the de facto reference baseline most AU enterprises measure their AI governance maturity against ahead of anticipated mandatory regulation.
